1985 General Motors intrduces
Saturn. Developers and speculators arrive and the Town begins
to experience a building explosion as it moves away from its
agricultural roots and toward business and industry.
1987 A new City Hall is dedicated
1989 Saturn Parkway is completed.
1995-2002 Food Lion Shopping Center was the first such
center and offered the Food Lion supermarket, Family Dollar
Store, tobacco store, liquor store, video store, dry cleaning
shop, McDonald’s, UAW Local 1853 Union Hall, UAW Credit Union.
The Campbell Station complex with Droger offered restaurants.
Dental offices, beauty salons, chiropractic offices, dry
cleaner, tax services, liquor store, Spring Hill Hardware, Twin
Maples B&B.
2003 The City approved plans for an Emergency Dispatch
Center and a new fire hall to be located in Campbell
Station.
2003-2004 Spring Hill Business Park houses Cheek’s Optical,
Curves, real estate company, and other retail stores. Walgreen
Drugs, numerous banks, car wash and fast food restaurants along
US 31 as part of Campbell Station. The Village Shopping Center
and the Market Place Condos offers The Grand Buffet Chinese
restaurant, nail and day spa, pub, and pastry shop. Pizza Hut,
Cingular, Blockbuster, the UPS Store, Cumberland Bank, and
Centennial Medical Center are housed in the Shoppes at Campbell
Station. The Shoppes at Spring Hill with Sherwin-Williams,
Tile, Ceramic, a tobacco discount store and karate school. In
the retail space behind Kroger can be found Sopranoz Italian
restaurant, an ice cream shop, discount clothing store, home
interior store, dental offices, a bicycle shop, billiard room
and First Farmers & Merchants Credit load office, an
insurance office and space for more retail shops. The Shoppes
of Kedron Road houses Tavern on the Ridge, the Ice Cream Shop,
(Anytime Fitness opened there later).
2005 Maury Regional Hospital Medical Plaza, Vanderbilt
Medical Group, Spring Hill Eye Care, Spring Hill Medical Plaza,
and the Publix retail complex.
2006 Home Depot opened, the Spring Hill Public Library was
renovated.
2007 Lowes Home Improvement Center opened. Applebee’s
opened. Construction was begun on the Crossings at Spring Hill
with Target as its anchor, and offering movie theaters,
restaurants, clothing stores and more.
The estimated population as of March 31, 2007 is listed at
26,596.
